‘Absurdity Tracker’ was finalized as a prototype collaboratively for a workshop at Interactivos? called ‘Technologies of Laughter’. This prototype is a locker with a peephole in front; upon peering in, the viewer’s eye movement is tracked with a camera and infrared lights, and an image of a human figure changes depending upon where on the body the viewer looks. Eye gaze is tracked using C++ within the openFrameworks programming platform. Interactivos? is a two week workshop platform initiated at Medialab-Prado that creates a space for research and collaboration for projects involving creative uses of technology; projects are selected by an international open call, which are developed, completed and displayed. ‘Absurdity Tracker’ was on view at the Centro Cultural de Espana en Mexico from August 17th to September 14, 2008.
